The popular Honda CR-V will have updated options for the consumer in the 2020 model series. The series will include the introduction of a new CR-V Hybrid, which will be built in the company’s Greensburg, Ind. Plant.

According to Honda, the 2020 CR-V Hybrid is the fi rst electrifi ed SUV from the company’s brand in America, joining the Accord and Insight Hybrids as the third electrifi ed Honda manufactured in the U.S.

This news comes as Honda moves to apply its two-motor hybrid-electric system to all of its core U.S. models in the coming years.

According to Honda’s press release: “The 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid promises substantially improved fuel effi  ciency while maintaining CR-V's award-winning balance of interior space, driving dynamics and comfort that has made CR-V such a success with American buyers. The CR-V's advanced two-motor hybrid powertrain, shared with the current Accord Hybrid, combines two electric motors with a 2.0-liter, 16-valve DOHC Atkinson cycle engine with greater than 40 percent thermal effi  ciency, the highest for any mass-produced Honda engine.”
